Race Fees
There are no refunds however, you can roll over your registration to 2028 for a fee of $50 BEFORE June 1st, 2027 or transfer your entry to another racer for a fee of $20.

After June 1st, there are no rollovers including injuries or illnesses.You may however, transfer your registration to another racer for a fee of $20.

You may transfer to another category within the Sylvan Lake Open Water Swim to a shorter distance for free, or to a longer distance for a charge of the difference of what you paid and the current price of entry up to July 16th, 2026. If you decide during the race that you want to swim shorter than registered, please report to the timing booth upon crossing the finish line to report the change.

Race Details
Sylvan Lake is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located 25 kilometers west of the City of Red Deer along Highway 11 or Highway 11A. It is situated on the southeast edge of Sylvan Lake, a 15-kilometre-long freshwater lake, in Red Deer County.
It is just over a 90-minute drive from Calgary to Sylvan Lake, and about an hour and 45 minutes from Edmonton.
The race starts and ends from Sylvan Lake Park (beside the beach volleyball courts).

Race Course

2km swim = 1 lap
4km swim = 2 laps
6km swim = 3 laps
Laps are CLOCKWISE keeping the buoys on their RIGHT shoulder, except before turning into shore, athletes must go around the Start/Finish buoy keeping it to their LEFT shoulder and then swimming towards shore.
Athletes must then run up onto shore to cross the timing mat under the finisher's arch.
500m swimmers:
The out and back loop is CLOCKWISE keeping the buoys on their RIGHT shoulder, except before turning into shore, athletes must go around the Start/Finish buoy keeping it to their LEFT shoulder and then swimming towards shore.

Rules
-
you must wear the designated swim cap you are given
-
you must start in your designated wave start
-
you may do any stroke you choose or a combination of strokes
-
no intentional grabbing, blocking, or impeding another swimmer
-
drafting off other swimmers is allowed
-
no snorkels, fins, paddles, pull buoys, or flotation devices allowed
-
you have the option/personal choice to wear a wetsuit or not
-
spectators may NOT be in kayaks/paddle boards and be alongside you as you swim
-
we will have paddle boards and kayaks on the water, you may grab on to them as long as you need however, they may not move your forward
-
-
if you decide to stop and get out of the water (on your own or rescued by watercraft) you must come to the timing tent to give your timing chip and speak to them to let them know you stopped
-
NO NUDITY ALLOWED on beach or in water. Please change prior to arriving and after you are finished in one of the washrooms near by
-
organizers may delay, shorten, or cancel the swim due to weather, water conditions, or safety concerns
Parking is all around except right in front of the main beach area as the road is closed during the summer. Please park in the areas and around and walk (approximately a 2 minute walk).
Parking is your responsibility (ie. please read the signs).
Results
There will be awards for the fastest swimmer in each age group for men and women in the follow categories:

Please note: there will not be additional awards for the top overall swimmers in each event, although we are so impressed with our winners.

Sylvan Lake has a number of wonderful accommodations.
We recommend you book early as most hotels and campgrounds book up fast in July!
