Rise and Ride
Mountain Bike Camps

Rise and Ride mountain bike program for beginner and intermediate riders. Riders will be put into groups of 6 appropriate 

Upcoming Dates:

July 30th and 31st -

This camp is appropriate for a variety of levels and you will be broken off into smaller groups upon arrival. Please register in the camp you believe you belong in. 
Beginner - This clinic is for anyone who has never been truly off-road on their mountain bike. You will learn proper mountain bike body position, how to appropriate use your gearing and brakes, how to climb and descend small hills and other basic trail riding skills.

Beginner/Intermediate - This clinic is for anyone who has completed the "Get Off-Road" clinic or can comfortably ride/do the skills from that clinic. You will learn how to go over roots and other small obstacles, climbing, ride down steeper terrain, and other valuable trail riding skills.

Intermediate - This clinic is for anyone who has completed the "Mountain Adventures" clinic or can comfortably ride/do the skills from that clinic. You will learn to ride steeper technical terrain, technical climbing, riding burms, appropriate trail selection, and other valuable trail riding skills.

Bike Requirements:

  •  mountain bike with front suspension and disc brakes

  • your bike must be in good working order (have had a professional  tune up at a bike shop within the last month)

 

What you get:

  • 5 hours of MTB instruction and riding each day

  • small groups for maximum learning opportunities

    • 1 coach to 6 participants ratio

What we cover:

  • Basic body positioning for uphill, downhill, and flat terrain

  • Bike set-up and trailside repairs - get the most from your bike, tools, and gear

  • Safety & trail riding etiquette - understanding the rules of our sport

  • Shifting & braking - learn how and when to use your controls for safe and efficient riding

  • Trail scanning & line selection - understanding where to put your focus when riding

  • Essential climbing techniques - learn how to ride uphill corners and steeper pitches

  • Intro to cornering - gain confidence in turns of all shapes and sizes!

9:00am Arrival and Bike/Gear Check (with safety talk) 

9:30am - 12:00pm Morning MTB Session

12:15pm Lunch (provided) and Nutrition Talk 

1:00pm - 3:30pm Afternoon MTB Session

3:30pm - 3:45pm - Snack Break (provided)

3:45pm - 4:30pm - Recovery Yoga

9:00am Arrival and Trailside Repair Talk

9:30am - 12:00pm Morning MTB Session

12:15pm Lunch (provided) and Nutrition Talk 

1:00pm - 3:30pm Afternoon MTB Session

Rise and Ride Mountain Bike Mandatory Gear List

*most gear is available at Tri It Multisport (1703 10th Ave SW), or on their website at tri-it.ca

MOUNTAIN BIKE:

  • mountain Bike (no fat bikes or other bikes please) in working order. Please have a tune up PRIOR to the start of the first session. 

  • bike helmet – fits properly and is no more than 5 years old

  • cycling shorts and bike jersey

  • a light Jacket

  • full fingered bike gloves 

  • tire levers

  • spare tube - even if your bike is set up with tubeless tires, it is a good idea to carry a tube as a backup.

  • Bike Pump or CO2 Inflator

  • bike-specific multi-tool

  • a chain and a quick link/master link

  • backpack to carry everything in with a hydration bladder

  • snacks and hydration - snacks are not only delicious, but they are essential to keep you riding at full speed all the way back to the parking lot

  • full charged cell phone 

  • bear spray

Mountain Bike Coaches

All mountain bike coaches are certified PMBIA coaches through the Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Program. All coaches are certified in Standard First Aid or higher such as Wilderness First -Aid.
